Budget
John Pike presented the proposed budget with CLA numbers received last week. The new CLA and decreased enrollment cause an increase in the Estimated Homestead Property Tax Rate to $1.54. This is an eleven cent increase over last year’s Tax Rate (or 8%). The Board discussed options to address this increase. The original proposed budget stands at $2,050,699, which is a 1.8% decrease from last year’s budget.
John Pike explained that cutting $21,800 in spending translates to $.01 on the Homestead Tax Rate He also reminded us that income sensitivity comes into play for 50-60% of our taxpayers. The board will continue to consider options to be discussed at the next board meeting, scheduled for January 8, 2008. (Additional meetings are scheduled on Jan 8 and Jan 15. Roberta will ask Pam to warn these extra meetings.)
