Special School Board Meeting to discuss budget

Held in the Moretown Elementary School library, Thursday, January 8, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 6:14 pm by John Schmeltzer.

On a motion by Amy, seconded by Deb, the board unanimously approved the minutes of the school board meetings held on 12/14/2007, 12/18/ 2007 and 1/3/2008.

On a motion by Amy, seconded by Deb, the board unanimously approved the minutes of the meetings held on 6/6/2007 and 2/13/2007. These had not been previously formally approved.

On a motion by Jay, seconded by Amy, the board approved the following board orders: #42 for $28, 854.19, #43 for $16, 463.95, #44 for $17,753.39 and #45 for $1,093.98.

Board members discussed the FY ’09 budget, including what might be included in the letter to townspeople this year. On a motion by John, seconded by Lisa, the board voted unanimously to approve the FY’09 budget dated 1/7/2008, in the amount of $2,057.61.00, and submit it for a vote.

On a motion by John, seconded by Amy, the board voted unanimously to submit the following article to the voters of Moretown for a vote: "Shall the voters of Moretown authorize the Moretown Elementary School Board to apply for a loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program, and borrow an amount not to exceed $32,000.00 for water system improvements?"

Board members reviewed the schedule for upcoming meetings. John will not be present at the next regular board meeting, 1/22/2008 so Jay agreed to officiate in John’s place.

Lisa, Deb and Amy agreed to attend the full WWSU meeting on Jan. 10.

The next regular board meeting will be held 2/12/2008.

On a motion by John, seconded by Lisa, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
