MORETOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents & Friends,

This is the first Christmas without my mom and dad.

Last night, I was looking through my mom’s cookbooks and found one of her handwritten recipes with the added note," Share with Robin".

I miss not having a child living at home.

My sweet daughter is home from college and happier than ever.

My brother is far away living in Australia.

My brother has not used heroin in almost a year.

Sometimes it feels like I’ve been married too long.

My husband is taking me to Rome for our 25th wedding anniversary.

There is an Italian expression which loosely translated means," What God takes away with one hand, he gives with another."

May the joy of this season allow you to see the giving hand..

Shaws receipts

Nathan Russell and Nathanael Kuzio are collecting Shaws receipts for the benefit of the Central Vermont Humane Society (CVHS). If you have receipts please put them in the office window. There will be a house shaped box there. Thank you.

From the music department

Mark your calendars! The Winter Concert is on January 31st. at 6:30. Prepare your ears for thunderous tire drums, singing, dancing, and renaissance recorder. Students who are not in band should arrive no later than 6:15 and go straight to their seats in the gym. Band students need to have their instruments out, ready for tuning at 6:15 in the music room. Students are encouraged to wear dark bottoms and colorful tops that allow for freedom of movement. If your child will not be able to participate, please send me a written note. I hope to see you there.

In other news, last Thursday our school had a visit from the Green Mountain Youth Symphony’s intermediate orchestra. These elementary and middle school age students gave presentations in each classroom introducing their instruments and answering questions. Students heard brass, stringed, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Later in the day, the entire school gathered in the gym for a symphonic performance. All young instrumentalists are invited to audition for one of the three levels of the GMYS. Brochures with details on the orchestra were sent home with students, but if you would like an additional copy, they are available on my desk at school.

Best Wishes and Happy Holidays,

Michael Close
