Shelburne Farms Fieldtrip

Dear Parents,

We have just been informed by Shelburne Farms that they have an opening for a fieldtrip to their education center on May 1^st. The theme of the visit is Super Soil. Students will discover the importance of soil in our lives. They will trace everyday objects back to their soil origin. Along with this work they will identify forces (time, wind, water, micro-organisms, light, heat) that contribute to the creation of soil. The life stages of worms as they make new soil will also be observed. The components of soil – rocks, and minerals, organic material, air, and water will also be explored.

The cost per student is $5. We are asking that you send in this amount to us by Friday April 18^th. If you wish to make a check it needs to be payable to "Moretown School Primary Unit". Your child will need to bring a snack and lunch for this fieldtrip. Shelburne Farms is challenging students and their families to recycle, reuse, and reduce in order to see who can pack a lunch with the least amount of garbage.

We’ll be traveling by bus and leave at 8:15. We’ll return at approximately 2:30. As you know the weather can be unpredictable this time of year. This fieldtrip takes place inside as well as outside. Please make sure your child wears clothing that can get dirty. Boots are a must. Dressing in layers is also a good idea with sweaters, coats, hats, and gloves.

Since, we did not list this trip on our original fieldtrip permission letter last fall, we need you to complete the following and return it with your child’s admission fee. Thank you.
