Dear Families,

I hope you enjoyed Open House last week as much as your children and I did! It was great seeing so many of you at school, supporting your child’s school experience.

The caterpillar Ciara brought to us a couple of weeks ago formed it’s chrysalis, and on Monday morning we were greeted by a beautiful Monarch butterfly awaiting for her release. Yes, HER release! We did some research and learned that we had a girl emerge. At recess time, we set her free to begin her long trip south.

 

 

We are looking for any apples you might donate to our classroom. It’s possible that we have a parent who will be bringing in her cider press and making cider with the kids in the coming weeks. If you have some apples that we could collect for this purpose, please send them to school by next Friday, October 12th. Thanks!

I have the following parents signed up to be a Shelburne Museum chaperone: Jodie Green, Steve Magill, Sarah Nussbaum, Anna Shackett, Chris Zschau, and Tammy Goodman. If you’re on this list and planning to join us, consider this confirmation. If you’re on the list, but can’t join us, please let me know by tomorrow, October 5th. I will be making the group lists and getting chaperone packets for the museum and bus activity packets ready on Friday, so I’ll need to know if someone can’t join us by then.

We had a lovely autumn hike in the woods on Monday afternoon. We collected leaves, sang songs, watched the water babble down the stream, and enjoyed the Vermont season with each other.

Dates to Remember-Mark Your Calendar:

Monday, October 8th - Picture Day. Your child brought home an order form on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Tuesday, October 9th - Field trip to Shelburne Museum leaving at 8:15 and arriving back around 2:15. Your child needs appropriate footwear, outdoor wear, cold lunch, snack and drink in a non-breakable container.

October 10th - Early Release Day

October 23rd - Historical Walking Tour of Moretown Village

October 25th - Bus tour of Moretown Schoolhouse sites in AM

                        Four Winds about Grasses and Grains in PM

October 31st - PTN Halloween Party at Town Hall from 5:30-6:30. Volunteers needed to help set up Town Hall on Sunday before from 12:00-1:00.

November 5th-Next PTN Meeting at Moretown School at 6:30 p.m.
