"Ah, I’m scared. I’m frightened. I’m freaked out," said Betsy-Bob, the bat. "I’m so afraid of the night."
"Come on out," said Joe. "It’s not scary at all. It’s fun; it’s terrific to fly in the night. You need food, and it’s all here."
But Betsy-Bob did not come out. She wouldn’t even think about it. She did not budge.
"Haven’t you noticed that it’s darker INSIDE the cave, than outside? The moon is full and bright tonight!" exclaimed Joe to Betsy-Bob.
"Okay, I’ll try. I am getting hungry,"
whimpered Betsy-Bob.With Joe by her side, Betsy-Bob mustered up some courage, and flew out of the cave. She and Joe flew over the hill to the pond.
"Hey! Joe, I’m not so scared anymore. I can see some things because the moon reflects light, even in the dark night," replied Betsy-Bob.
"I told you so," boomed Joe.
"Look, Joe! Straight ahead! A swarm of those tasty bugs we like so much!" yelled Betsy-Bob.
"Last one’s a blind bat!" bellowed Joe.
Shoo! Zoom! CHOMP! CHOMP!
