Dear Parents,
How can we help someone else in need? This is a question we hope to encourage your children to think about and take action upon. We would like to ask that children bring in nonperishable food items for the local food shelf. Once we have collected items we will take them to the Methodist church next door for someone to pick up.
Of course, collecting food items lends itself to many activities here at school. For example, we will sort the food into the basic food groups and count the food items.
Another topic we would like to focus on this month is friendship. We’d like to celebrate the friends we have in our classroom community by participating in a pencil exchange. We are asking that each child bring in two fancy/decorated pencils wrapped together in paper without any name or tag on them. Children will choose a wrapped package and be surprised when they find out who brought the pencils in.
We are asking that you send in the nonperishable food items AND the wrapped pencils by December 19th. If sending in pencils is not possible for you, please let us know by Monday December 17th, so we can do what is necessary to make sure there are enough packages for all children to participate.
As always, we appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Brenda and Kathi
