Dear Parents,
In the coming weeks we will spend a lot of time in our classroom getting to know one another. One activity we do to help us get acquainted is a "Me Bag". Each child will decorate a paper bag and fill it with 4 or 5 items that tell us something about him or her. For instance, the Me Bag might include:
*a photograph or hand-drawn picture of their family
*a favorite toy, game or book
*a souvenir or photograph from a place your child has visited
*an object from a favorite collection
You might have your child draw a picture of "something about me". Here are some ideas:
*I like to...
*I can...
*The funniest thing I ever saw was...
*I feel happy when...
*When I grow up, I want to be...
Each child will have an opportunity to share their me bags with our class. Lisa and I will begin by sharing our Me Bags next Monday. A few children will share each day thereafter until everyone has had a turn. Below is the schedule we will use for sharing. Please be sure to send your child's Me Bag to school on or before their listed date. Thanks! Also, please be sure that your child does not include anything that they will need at home each day such as a special blanket or stuffed animal (feel free to take pictures of these special items to include), as we might keep the Me Bags at school for a few days before sending them home.

Also, I am still in the process of touching base with families about how children are transitioning to preschool. If you haven't heard from me yet, I apologize and I'll be in touch soon. If you would like to talk sooner, please give me a call. Lisa and I are sending home book bags with the afternoon group today. We'll probably wait until next week to send them home with the morning group.
Enjoy the beautiful day,
Pam
