Dear Parents,

          What a beautiful stretch of weather we have had! As the weather begins to cool off, please remember that unless it is raining hard we will go outside to play each day.  Be sure to label all hats, mittens and boots with your child’s name.  Thanks!

          Your children did an incredible job sharing their Me Bags.  It was fun to see and hear about the objects in the bags. 

On Tuesday we will take a hike up on the hill behind the school to observe the leaves on the mountain side.  We will also be gathering objects for a nature collage that we’ll make once we are back in the classroom. Please be sure your child wears pants and sneakers to school and brings a rain jacket (the weather forecast is calling for sprinkles). 

Last week I brought in many garbage bags filled with leaves from home (unfortunately our playground doesn’t have any big trees!).  The children had a blast running and jumping into the pile.  Many also enjoyed being buried in the leaves.  On Thursday we raked them up, stuffed them back into the garbage bags and carried them over near the soccer fields to dump them. On our walk back, we stopped at the “big kid’s playground”.  The children enjoyed using the zip lines and giant tire swing.

On Wednesday we’ll be baking either apple pie or crisp (the children in each group will vote to decide). If you have extra apples, we would appreciate any donations sent to school by Tuesday.  Thanks!

Our collage table has been a very busy place!  We are currently in need of supplies for our table.  Paper towel tubes, yogurt, cottage cheese, or similar sized containers, small boxes, stickers & labels, and fabric scraps are all needed.  We can use just about anything!  We would appreciate it if you would save a few things for us and send them to school with your child.  I’ll let you know when we have plenty.

The bus company has asked that we start dismissing the morning preschool about five minutes earlier than we have been.  We will exit our classroom about 10:55 , which will ensure that the buses leave school by 11:00 .  If you pick-up your child, please note the new pick-up time of 10:55 and if you meet the school bus (either to get your morning preschooler off from the bus or to put your afternoon preschooler on the bus), please be prepared to meet the bus 5 minutes earlier than in the past. 

          Reminders:

-School Pictures are tomorrow!  If you would like your child’s picture taken-please be sure to complete and return your child’s picture order form sent home last week. Thanks!

-Hike on Tuesday-Be sure your child is wearing pants (or clothing to protect her legs) and sneakers (or other similar shoes).

-Book orders are due!  If you would like to participate this month, please send your order to school a.s.a.p. 

-Early dismissal this Wednesday, October 10^th.   No afternoon preschool on this day.
