Support Services
Every school in Vermont is required to develop an Educational Support System capable of ensuring high quality learning opportunities for all students.
In Moretown we have arrange of support and remedial services to assist students to better access their learning environment. These include instructional and behavioral interventions as well as classroom accommodations and adaptations.
Our Educational Support Team (EST) meets weekly and is comprised of a classroom teacher, Title I/Special Educator, Counselor and Home School Coordinator. When a teacher has significant concerns about a student’s academic performance or classroom behavior, they will seek assistance for that child through the EST.
Following a review of the student’s educational file as well as a completed learning/behavior checklist, the team discusses a variety of strategies that could address the concerns. These strategies may include re-teaching, using graphic organizers, small group instruction, Para educator assistance, and or seeking further information about the student through evaluation. Evaluation may result in specific recommendations that become part of a written plan (Act 117) for a student.
The EST provides for monitoring of interventions as well as appropriate follow-up with parents.
For more information contact the EST Coordinator by email or call the school.
